xxxholic and FMA


holic - wow, the daisuki's are flying fast and loose. o_o And Watanuki told her not to come anymore? Damn.

This makes me wonder what the date currently is in Holic. Late winter? And I wonder if the next chapter will follow Doumeki to where Himawari is?

Also, I've changed my mind. I now ship Doumeki/Mokona. I just never want to see the fic. ^_^

I'm not sure I understood correctly I just woke up but I think Himawari can come over to the shop at least on Watanuki's birthday? If that's the case I think we won't see Doumeki's trip (to Hokkaido?) and instead we'll see her when she comes visiting. Anyway, all those daisuki's make me wonder how they parted ç_ç

Re: FMA; do you think the manga is coming to an end or that God!Homunculus will become the new bad guy and keep them fighting for a while? I thought the grand finale was approaching but now I'm not so sure...

According to cnet, Watanuki originally told Himawari not to come over at all, but she objected to that, so they compromised on only meeting once a year, on his birthday. D:

Watanuki used daisuki after his fall, but it's still surprising (for me) to hear such strong declarations of affection in manga. ^^;

Hmm, it's a fair bet that Something Big is gonna happen on April 1st - in addition to Himawari showing up (I can't wait to see her!).


fma - I have no idea. XD It certainly looked like it was heading into the last fight, but now I have to wonder. There are too many loose ends. Maybe this last confrontation is just gonna be really, really long?

Holic is usually so cryptic, so when you hear something important said straight out like that it makes you jump a little. XD

I wonder what date it is too, and how long it will be until Watanuki's next birthday (although technically he isn't aging, I suppose). I can see it being the setup for the final arc and the conclusion of the series, although it could also fit well for an epilogue.

Doumeki and Mokona are so cute together. They're acting like best friends who can talk about anything.

It does make you jump! When I looked at the RAWS, I noticed the daisuki's, but I was like - no, it can't be that blatant. Not that I don't think the affection is obviously there, whether they use strong language or not, it's just...yeah, blatant.

hahaha, I didn't even notice the irony in that. XD I wonder how much older Himawari looks now, compared to Watanuki?

They can talk about anything, can't they? It's funny, Watanuki may have inherited the shop, but Doumeki managed to inherit Mokona. XD

I was mostly surprised by the way Himawari said it, but I think it shows that she has changed too, just like Yuuko said that she would. She seems more confident now, and determined to let Watanuki know how important he is to her. Like the others, she's probably doing all she can to make him feel wanted and connected to the real world.

I can't wait to see her. 4 years isn't that much, but considering how much taller Doumeki became in that time it makes me really curious of what Himawari looks like now.

They're adorable, especially when drinking sake together. ♥

If all these people actually STAY dead, FMA will go through the roof on my manga ranking.
That said, if they get reincarnated in some weird way only because a) it's shonen, b) the mangaka would get lynched by evil fans, I will be really, really disappointed. FMA never ceases to amaze me and it has to stay that way. >.< I sat through the chapter with my jaw on the floor and brains all over the walls, thinking, "no way, is this for real?!?!!1!!". AWESOME. ♥

I don't think they'll stay dead. XD The reason for that is mostly because we saw Winry among them - she's gotta come back.

This is reminding me of the Miraculous Save in Naruto a little while back. That felt like a rip off. The most I can hope for it that FMA will do it better.

Yeah, very unfortunately I also don't think they'll stay dead. *sulks* I'm not looking forward to the miracle. I tend to have very high hopes regarding great plot-driven series like FMA or PH, but it also means I'm becoming annoyingly picky. :/
I can only hope FMA will do it better than average. - - The ending is the best occasion to destroy the piece. *cough* TRC *cough*

The daisuki's surprised me too. I had to look back and see if I read it right. XDD For some reason, I never imagined Himawari actually saying it straight out like that. I feel so bad for her not being able to come to the shop to see him more than once a year. ;A; I'm glad she fought to be able to see him at least that much.

I hope we see Doumeki going to see Himawari, but I'm not too hopeful. It seems like the kind of thing that might be behind scenes. :(

Haha, Doumeki/Mokona is pretty awesome. They're closer than Doumeki and Watanuki these days...

Yeah, it was very direct language, especially for Himawari. Makes me wonder how much she's changed in the last 4/5 years.

I LOVE Doumeki/Himawari scenes. It would make me so happy to see them hanging out together, but I realize it's just not going to happen. /o\

The best thing is that Doumeki and Mokona actually have things in common. It's so refreshing.

The phone conversation between Wata and Hima continues for a bit, with Himawari saying she'll definitely come to the store for Watanuki's birthday. (er, there's a weird translation thing here I'll have to double check - starlady's translations say she'll come on April 4, but Watanuki's birthday is April 1)

Watanuki smiles and says thank you. Himawari says 'I love you, Watanuki,' (daisuki). Watanuki says, 'I love you, too.' Then they hang up.

Doumeki has been lounging against the wall a little out of sight for this conversation (I didn't even know he was in the store o_o). Doumeki asks if that was Kunogi - Watanuki says yes and that he needs Doumeki to deliver something to her for the day after tomorrow. Doumeki says sure. They have a little exchange about dinner, then Watanuki goes off to the kitchen with Maru and Moro.

As Watanuki and the twins leave, Mokona jumps up on Doumeki's shoulder and they have A Talk.

We learn that one year into Watanuki's stint as the shop owner, he realized that there are some very sensitive things in the storage room - things that Will Not Mix Well with Himawari's presence. Mokona says that Yuuko must also have known this, since after Himawari became a customer and could have conceivably entered the shop at any time, Yuuko only invited her over once on Watanuki's birthday. We also learn that crossing into Himawari's dreams is a Bad Idea because of her condition.

Watanuki's powers had grown a great deal in his first year, enough to realize Himawari could no longer enter the shop - so he told her she couldn't come back.

Himawari said no. She fought his decision, so they compromised - Himawari could only come over to see Watanuki in the shop once a year, on his birthday. In the meantime, Himawari asked Doumeki to spy watch Watanuki for her and to tell her everything that happens with him. (Doumeki wasn't around for the Conversation when it happened, Hima filled him in later)

Mokona says Watanuki is doing his best and using all of the techniques he's learned to make the shop ready for April 1st, for Himawari. Doumeki says that he's sure Kunogi understands everything, and that's why she respects Watanuki's decisions.

Mokona asks, And you?

Doumeki is silent for a bit, then, ...I still have to decide.

Scene change, and we're back with Watanuki in the trashed apartment with the Wounded Girl. WG says some more really incomprehensible things (ah, Japanese), before Watanuki finally cuts to the chase and says he's there for the crimson pearl.

The girl says, oh, were you asked by the Spider Lady? Watanuki seems a bit shocked at getting a straight answer (I know I am) and the girl continues to say that she had promised to give the Spider Lady the next crimson pearl she produced.

Then the girl points and says, Look behind you. Watanuki's eyes go big as he whips around.

End chapter.


(I now think the Wounded Girl is a personified oyster.)

D-daisuke? Aaaah ♥. Though that's both worrisome and lovely... I don't know how to explain it. It's just something that clamp doesn't put in that easily, if at all. And clamp better have that meeting happen, and not just tease us about it. Think of all the things Doumeki is going to show away from Watanuki, all the things Himawari is goign to say. Want it so bad :x

Sigh, Doumeki -- wait, what is there to decide? My friend was more bugged about the fact that he was around for continuious pages, but his face would be hidden/blocked for no apperant reason. But, yeah -- is he talking about the egg? Is there an actual chance he might decide against This/Watanuki? OH LET IT BE SO <3 or at least, I want to see a lash back or... yeah, not happening. As long as he didn't look pained while saying it...?

Re girl: I hope Clamp is planning to have Watanuki learn A Lesson from the girl, or her situation, at least.

Thank you so, so much! I got the chance to see some of the FMA raws, though I don't think I'm ready yet to see it again. My friend wouldn't give me coherent comments about holic, besides the fussing over Doumeki (we need a change of pace, I know) and annoyance with clamp.

The daisukis are really startling. Especially from Himawari. But I don't think we'll get a clear look at the New Himawari until Watanuki's birthday, *sigh*. She was sorta shown in half profile for one panel, but all you really got was an impression of a lot of curly hair.

From the context, I'm guessing that Doumeki has to decide whether or not he's going to respect Watanuki's wish - it's what he had to decide the first time with the Older Lady, too. Only this time, it looks like Yuuko is the replacement Older Lady. It worked out then, but now that it's Yuuko on the line...

He did look pained when Mokona asked the question, with a bent head and lowered eyes. But when Doumeki said he had yet to decide...I dunno. I mean, it's Two-Expressions-Doumeki, so it's hard to tell, but I got an impression of resolve hidden under resignation? If that makes sense. He said it against a black back ground with one of the white impact streaks leading from his mouth, like what he was saying was Very Important. <--sucks at explaining art

How messed up is it that DOUMEKI is turning into the most tragic figure in xxxHolic?? CLAMP needs to give the guy a break. ):
