Hey, hey, guess what?

I got 50k on my NaNo. :D

(right, well, technically I got 50k near midnight on the 14th and I haven't written a word since, but still, 50k.)

I'm still in the game, though - my goal from the start was 75-100k, so I've got a long way to go until I reach the final finish line. And the editing, oh god, the editing I will have to do. But (hopefully!) by the end of all this I will have something resembling a manuscript I wouldn't feel ashamed of letting see the light of day. And if nothing else, I'll have learned a LOT about writing and about my own limits.

Ah, and before I forget - I wrote this before NaNo in one of the writing comms and since then it's been reposted in like, five different places that aren't my own journal. Methinks this should be rectified. So here's the secret to my success! (apologies to the people on my flist who've seen this before xD)

The Twelve Steps to NaNoWriMo Success )
ceitean: (kill me now)
So, I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year! Shoot me now.

I started writing in a notebook as soon as I woke up this morning. In 3-4ish hours (there were multiple breaks <.<) I wrote over 4000 words. Not bad, all things considered. I'm trying for 75-100k this year, so that puts me right on track.

Still need to do more outlining, or else I will stall in the middle of week two and fail fail fail. I'm not sure whether or not to count my plotting in my general wordcount because that kind of feels like cheating to me, but I suspect I will change my mind once I start lagging behind my daily goals. XD

But as of right now I'm on a roll with my beta of Scrivener and my notebooks and my snacks and my virtual hot chocolate (♥ [livejournal.com profile] levels !). I spent a good chunk of October planning this thing (hence my absence, sigh), so hopefully everything will go mostly smooth on the writing front.

Anyone else doing Nano this year? Come, join me in my insanity. :D :D :D
ceitean: (... ph girls)
In my continuing efforts to procrastinate on my NaNo, I have committed fic. (Hey - at least I'm writing.)

...so, anyone feel like beta-ing a short PH comedy fic? /o\
ceitean: (bitchy)
I wish there was someone out there who shared my brain. Then I could say to that person, "Dear Brain-sharing friend, what happens after this plot point?" And that person would say, "Oh, silly! Clearly this is what must happen."

And then that person would tell me exactly what I need to know and I would no longer want to rip my story out of my computer and stomp on it until it decides to be more cooperative.

So, how was your day?
ceitean: (writer's block)
Oh my god, NaNo ate my life. D:

But I'm on schedule, so at least that's something. Here, have a line from my NaNo:

"A second later, Ben Travers appeared in the doorway. He looked so normal standing there, so bizarrely normal, with his hair more rumpled than usual and his stupid ears sticking out like an experiment in aerodynamics gone horribly wrong."

I did not know my character had sticky-outy ears until I wrote that sentence. Such is life.
ceitean: (writing)
So, uh. I signed up for NaNoWriMo.

cut for boring introspective stuff )

So, I'll do NaNo. I'll get back in the habit of writing every day and maybe I can relight the proverbial spark.

I work best under pressure, anyway. XD
