Given that Tsubasa is ending this is probably a seriously moot point, but-

We've seen seven people use magic circles in Tsubasa: Yuuko, C!Syaoran, C!Sakura, Yukito, Clow by proxy, FWR, and Xing Huo. I went back to compare and I saw something interesting with Xing Huo's circle.

In the first chapter, we see Yukito call up a circle, but it's hard to tell what it looks like. The only thing that's for sure is that Yukito's circle is similar to, but isn't Clow's or Sakura's (that band is awkwardly placed). The first episode of the anime, on the other hand, shows a full circle for Yukito. This one has a moon motif showing up twice, which makes sense because it's, you know, Yukito. ^_^

.

Then later on, in the Tokyo Revelations OAD, we the Moon circle again in the Opening, along with a few others:

But Yukito isn't even in Tokyo Revelations, so what's this circle doing in the Opening? Turns out the Moon circle was used, but not by Yukito. The OAD shows Xing Huo using it when she sends Syaoran Jr away from FWR's hideout.

Now this is where it gets interesting, because that? Is not the circle she used in the manga. See, I remember thinking that if Xing Huo was a 'failed creation' then it might have been possible for her to have been a failed clone of Sakura, which would explain why FWR said it made sense that she would free Syaoran, considering what she was, and also why she could use a magic circle. And in my head, I made the assumption that the circle I saw then was Sakura's.

But it wasn't Sakura's- it was Clow's.

The last time we saw Clow's magic was in the magic he left behind for Syaoran to use. Add to that what we heard Xing Huo say, that she could only use her own circle to cross dimensions once, makes me think that at some point in time Clow left another piece of his magic specifically with Xing Huo, so that one day Xing Huo could transport Syaoran Jr to Yuuko and start the process of finally 'ending the dream.*

One more interesting thing about the circles (I know, I know, I'll shut up soon): we still don't know what kind of circle FWR uses. I mean, we saw him use a circle, but it's deliberately fuzzy so we can't see any details.

The only thing we can know for sure from this picture is that FWR's circle has a star base and a ringed crescent moon. That, however, doesn't tell us jack about which circle this is since two of our already known circles use the ringed crescent- Clow's and Yukito's. And you know that this was done on purpose- look at the detail difference between Xing Huo's and FWR's. CLAMP is deliberately hiding something, something to do with the source of FWR's magic that they didn't want us to know so early.

Keep in mind, though, that the Moon circle hasn't technically shown up in the manga yet- Yukito's version was only shown in the anime and Xing Huo's was switched to it in Tokyo Revelations when it should have been Clow's. It's kind of strange how often the Moon circle is used, and with consistency in the animated versions of Tsubasa. So unless this is an extra circle from CCS, where in hell did it come from?

*nevermind that I already think
Xing Huo and Kyle Ronhart are representations of Clow's Chinese mother and English father- but that's just something I suspect and can't prove at all, though it would put an interesting dynamic on all of this cloning business

I'm glad I'm not the only one that assumed Xing Huo's circle was just Sakura's. It's a good question, though I'm not sure if it will ever be answered. Another one of those CLAMP mysteries. As for the anime usage. I would say it's an animator thing you know like they already drew it out and they just used it again so they didn't have to create more, but it was two completely different production companies that did the series and that set of movies. *sighs* But there is so much effort put into the circles, and hiding them, and so on there has to be something of signifigance here!

*I think that this is an awesome idea that should be explored. Them being created as representations of Clow's parents. Which totally fits with my theory of FWR being his brother.

Different production companies- exactly! That was totally what I was thinking. But you gotta figure, the two times that circle showed up- the anime premier and Tokyo Revelations- were the two times that CLAMP probably had the most influence on production. The only other major change in the Tokyo Arc was replacing the ghosts with CCS Sakura, which still made sense, given that CSS Sakura has a helping role later in the manga anyway. You gotta wonder if the production companies got that circle straight from CLAMP and if so- who's circle is it?

But yeah, the possibility of this never being addressed is really high. *sigh* Bah.

Xing Huo's circle being changed in the OAD made me think that either it was an important detail that CLAMP put in and that would be explained later, or that the form of the circle was irrelevant so the producers could change it as they wanted. xD However, considering that Ohkawa made me script for those episodes, and considering that the other few changes that were made (like the one with CCS!Sakura, like you said) seem to make sense now, I'm leaning towards the former. And I definitely don't think that CLAMP would have let the moon circle appear in the anime if it went against something that was supposed to be revealed in the manga later. I just... wonder how CLAMP will have the time to explain it all in just one or two chapters (if they're going to explain it at all, that is). ¬¬

As for Kyle, what I want to know the most is why he looks so much like Watanuki. Or Clow, if you want. Your theory about him and Xing Huo makes a lot of sense, considering their names and all.

-_- <--is what I think of CLAMP right now.

Kyle - *nods* We know Watanuki looks like Clow when he was a kid and Kyle's resemblance to them both is uncanny. Given that Watanuki is sortakinda descended from Clow, I'm betting there's some kind of semi-relationship between Wata/Clow/Kyle as well. Or at least the person Kyle was cloned from.

And the English Father/Chinese Mother is the only thing I could come up with to explain those two particular characters. ^_^;

You know, I laughed when I read this line:

CLAMP is deliberately hiding something, something to do with the source of Clow's magic that they didn't want us to know so early.

At this point, it seems to me that they didn't want us to know anything at all, the series is about to end and we don't have the slightest idea about the origins of FWR, Xing Huo, Kyle, or what's up with the bat symbols or the magic circles or anything...and I really wanted to know!

...this is probably very, very true. D':

I still have hope that we might find out more about the bat symbol in Holic, since we saw it there through Doumeki's family heirloom and in the house of that guy who got the shadow birds.

But if nothing gets answered? I might go a bit crazy. Just a bit.

eta: a-also, that part you quoted was actually a typo on my part, it was supposed to say FWR instead of Clow. *head desk* thanks for point it out! XD XD XD
