Hey, hey, guess what?

I got 50k on my NaNo. :D

(right, well, technically I got 50k near midnight on the 14th and I haven't written a word since, but still, 50k.)

I'm still in the game, though - my goal from the start was 75-100k, so I've got a long way to go until I reach the final finish line. And the editing, oh god, the editing I will have to do. But (hopefully!) by the end of all this I will have something resembling a manuscript I wouldn't feel ashamed of letting see the light of day. And if nothing else, I'll have learned a LOT about writing and about my own limits.

Ah, and before I forget - I wrote this before NaNo in one of the writing comms and since then it's been reposted in like, five different places that aren't my own journal. Methinks this should be rectified. So here's the secret to my success! (apologies to the people on my flist who've seen this before xD)

The Twelve Steps to NaNoWriMo Success )
ceitean: (kill me now)
So, I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year! Shoot me now.

I started writing in a notebook as soon as I woke up this morning. In 3-4ish hours (there were multiple breaks <.<) I wrote over 4000 words. Not bad, all things considered. I'm trying for 75-100k this year, so that puts me right on track.

Still need to do more outlining, or else I will stall in the middle of week two and fail fail fail. I'm not sure whether or not to count my plotting in my general wordcount because that kind of feels like cheating to me, but I suspect I will change my mind once I start lagging behind my daily goals. XD

But as of right now I'm on a roll with my beta of Scrivener and my notebooks and my snacks and my virtual hot chocolate (♥ [livejournal.com profile] levels !). I spent a good chunk of October planning this thing (hence my absence, sigh), so hopefully everything will go mostly smooth on the writing front.

Anyone else doing Nano this year? Come, join me in my insanity. :D :D :D

First off:

And now for something (not so) different -

(because i need so much more practice *cries*)

1) Pick a fandom I know! There are a bunch of fandoms I know of that aren't in my interests, so if you're not sure, feel free to ask.
2) Pick at least one character!
3) Gimmie a prompt. It can be whatever you want: a word, a song, a picture, whatever floats your boat.
4) ???
5) Profit! (except this is fanfic and disclaimer disclaimer disclaimer, you know the drill XD)

So I'm planning out what I'm gonna write for this Cliche Bingo thing. I'm probably gonna write a mix of Star Trek and xxxHolic for the prompts, maybe a bit of Merlin if I'm feeling plucky.

I know most of the people on my flist come from the Holic side of the fandom fence, so this question is for you- if you had to request a stranger to write a Holic fic out any of those prompts on that table I posted before, which would it be? The crossover prompt is already a given, of course. But what else are you just dying to see a new fic writer try and butcher this week? :X

(no, really, I'm serious.)
