ceitean: (kill me now)

So, I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year! Shoot me now.

I started writing in a notebook as soon as I woke up this morning. In 3-4ish hours (there were multiple breaks <.<) I wrote over 4000 words. Not bad, all things considered. I'm trying for 75-100k this year, so that puts me right on track.

Still need to do more outlining, or else I will stall in the middle of week two and fail fail fail. I'm not sure whether or not to count my plotting in my general wordcount because that kind of feels like cheating to me, but I suspect I will change my mind once I start lagging behind my daily goals. XD

But as of right now I'm on a roll with my beta of Scrivener and my notebooks and my snacks and my virtual hot chocolate (♥ [livejournal.com profile] levels !). I spent a good chunk of October planning this thing (hence my absence, sigh), so hopefully everything will go mostly smooth on the writing front.

Anyone else doing Nano this year? Come, join me in my insanity. :D :D :D

i've always considered doing NaNo but yeah, it's right on my exam times for me and so is an absolutely terrible time for me to be doing anything else as I really don't need any more excuses to stop studying? but good luck!

Yeah, NaNo is always hell on students. It's always right in the middle of exams and projects and general crazyness. ): I don't blame you one bit.

Me, I just want to try and hammer out a manuscript to see if I can do it. Even if it's crap, I figure getting into the habit of writing over a thousand words every day can only me good for me. ^_^

Lol yeah. Students I suppose get far too much extra-curricular things to do to ever have guaranteed spare time to do things like this?

Fair enough. It's one of the reasons that I'd want to do it- I don't write and would like to? And I know that it's only with actually doing it that I actually will- and we all know that having goals really helps people~

Goals and lots of pressure. xD The keys to success, right there.

I'm always shocked when I see the amount of students who do sign up for it. They've got a lot more cojones than I did a couple years ago, that's for sure. But then again, I haven't met very many fulltime students reach 50k by the end of the month, so. *shrug*

Hahaha ikr? That and people doing it with you. It's far easier to get somewhere if you can bully people along with you? XD

Maybe it depends on exam times as well? IDK- is the US into exams yet? Because I know that I'd be doing it if it weren't for exams- (although probably not if it hit three assignments in two weeks level of busy).
Haha yeah. But that might be down to age as well~?

Yeah, the US has exams and project due dates from mid November to early December, usually. Crazy times.

Might be age. The NaNo forums say it's the over 50 age group that has the best completion rate.

Those flighty kids, never finishing what they start. /hypocrite

hmmm- must be mid year exams I guess? i'm surprised they go for it then. I'm usually so nervous about exams that i can't even contemplate doing anything else. even if i spent half my time procrastinating.

... really? lolol. sorry- i just have problems imagining 50-yr-olds using the internet competently enough to sign up. /has very incompetent older relatives.

Not mid-year exams, end of semester/class exams. Midterms are usually somewhere in October, but it depends on the class and the school and what the work load is. In my school end of semester exams are on the first week of December, which means all the papers and projects are due a week before.

heh, well, there are a lot fewer 50+ users on the forums than teenagers, that's for sure. Probably skews the stats in the seniors' favor. xD

That's what I meant by mid-year exams. mid-year=end-of-semester. (well, that's the way it works here anyway?)

I guess it would? anyone at that age, dedicated enough to sign up, would pretty much be guaranteed to succeed I guess. XD

Do you switch to new classes in the second semester? (possibly the mix up is in how close the terms 'mid year exams' and 'midterms' are, so I'm getting them confused. XD)

Not in high school (well, not really anyway)? In uni you do though. Which is what I'm speaking for I guess.

Hmmm. We don't do midterms here though so the term's not something I would even really recognise.

Good luck!

I've considered Nano in the past, but school's always bogged me down.

Heh, yeah, NaNo's kind of a big time commitment. I didn't do NaNo when I was in school, but now that I just got out, I figure why the hell not. xD

You're writing 4k words a day?! Aiming for 100k?! I hate you :( *slogs hopelessly behind*

Good luck with your Nano! ♥ :D You're writing everything by hand?

No, no, don't hate me! ):

Actually, I took this weekend off. I've written 30k words so far, so I thought I could afford a break. xD (but that might not have been the best idea since I'm having trouble getting into the groove again toady. orz)

I'm typing everything! I've got notebooks to jot down plans and charts and stuff, but the bulk of the writing is being done in scrivener.

Blah, I must have been too caught up in "100k 100k 100k WAT" train of thought to be able to understand the rest of your post XD

30k? Wow. I'm sure even with this slight delay you will be able to pick up pace again :D Good luck with that! ^_^ I hit 10k yesterday. *facepalm*
